MarketU Community Guidelines
Simple rules that keep the campus marketplace worth using.
- Be respectful. You're dealing with classmates, not strangers.
- Meet in safe, public places on or near campus.
- Don't harass anyone. No pressure, spam, or abuse in messages.
- Be who you say you are. No impersonation or fake accounts.
- Only sell what you're allowed to sell. See the prohibited list below.
- Honor your deals. Show up, or say you can't.
Violations may result in content removal or account suspension/removal.
Prohibited items & services
These may never be listed, requested, or offered on MarketU:
- Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
- Weapons of any kind, including firearms, ammunition, and knives sold as weapons
- Stolen property
- Counterfeit or bootleg goods
- Alcohol
- Tobacco, nicotine, and vaping products
- Prescription medications and medical devices
- Adult services or content
- Live animals
- Financial instruments, gift-card resale schemes, and anything that functions as a scam
- Academic dishonesty services (completed assignments, exam-taking, impersonation in courses)
- Recalled or hazardous products
Tutoring and study help are welcome — doing someone's graded work for them is not.
Tickets
Tickets are welcome on MarketU — as listings and conversations. The transfer itself always
happens in the ticket issuer's official system. The rules:
- Only list tickets you legitimately own or control.
- Follow the issuer's transfer and resale rules — for student tickets that usually means
transfers only to eligible students, and some schools (including UNL) prohibit reselling
above the price you originally paid.
- Never post screenshots of QR codes or barcodes, and never share ticket files or transfer
codes in chat — anyone who sees them can steal the ticket.
- Never ask another student for their ticket-account login or verification codes, and never
share yours.
- Don't misrepresent the ticket type, eligibility, seating, or availability.
- Student tickets may only be offered to eligible students where the issuer requires it.
- Fraudulent ticket listings can result in immediate account removal.
MarketU doesn't issue, transfer, validate, or guarantee tickets, and isn't
affiliated with any university, athletic department, or ticket issuer.
How enforcement works
- Anyone can report a listing, a student, or a message from inside the app.
- Listings reported by multiple students are hidden automatically while we review.
- We can remove content and suspend or permanently remove accounts.
- Every account belongs to a verified student at their school — nobody here is anonymous.
Safety basics
- Meet in public. Daylight and busy campus spots beat parking garages at night.
- Inspect items before you pay.
- Pay only in ways you're comfortable with.
- If something feels off, walk away and report it.
